The House of Prayer and Evangelism Center was founded in 1984 for the purpose of intercessory prayer and to continue the evangelization begun by Pedro Menendez and Fr. Lopez when the city of St. Augustine was founded in 1565.  Here God’s people seek to give glory to the Father, give praise and honor to the Lord Jesus Christ, and to respond to the working of the Holy Spirit in our day.  Various prayerful groups and ministries are centered around this holy refuge. Among them you will find the Marian Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, The Joyful Family Charismatic Prayer Community, The Catholic Fellowship of young adults and College Students, the Lay Carmelites, and others.

Those seeking spiritual direction may find qualified people to help them by appointment.  Special masses are regularly scheduled each month with an emphasis on prayer for healing. Those who are sick or who have loved ones suffering in any way can telephone or write with prayer requests.

Better yet, if possible, come and receive prayer directly from loving people who will join their hearts with yours in seeking the blessing of a God who is loving and merciful.
Stop by the House of Prayer and Evangelism Center on any weekday and you will likely find people at prayer.

The weekday schedule includes:

10:30 AM           Liturgy of the Hours

The House of Prayer and Evangelism Center is nestled in the setting of what is sometimes called “God’s most Sacred Acre”. From the front entrance one looks out over the beautiful Nombre De Dios Mission Grounds and into the doorway of Our Lady of La Leche Chapel.  The house shares the tranquil setting of the Matanzas Bay front
with its’ towering beacon of faith, “The Great Cross”
